The Alcoa/Maryville/Blount County Sanitary Landfill is the only municipal-
run landfill in East Tennessee. It spans 319.4 acres and serves 128,000 people living in the area. As
the manager, Hembree has to ensure the landfill is under compliance and has the proper permits.
Hembree and her team are focused on providing the best possible service to their community.
Everything they do from staying ahead of regulatory compliance to equipment purchasing is focused
on the best service at the lowest overall cost.

Best service at the lowest overall cost, is why Hembree relies on Caterpillar Equipment and support
from their local dealer. Day to day landfill operations are critical and require high uptime to keep
up with the daily influx of waste. Down time is not an option because it can become a public health
concern if the waste is not spread, compacted, and covered in a timely manner. Hembree and her
team utilize a 973D, two 963 Track Loaders, and an 816F Compactor to spread and compact the
waste. A Cat 725CL Excavator and two 725 Articulated Trucks load and transport the cover material.
