Lower East Branch Meets in Soddy Daisy By Eric Sines

The Lower East Branch met on Todd Beals and Tim Smith with Priority Waste Services.
October 30th at Soddy Daisy’s
Home Folks Restaurant, known
for its fried chicken, fried pork
chops, and peach cobbler. Twenty-
two Public Works and sanitation
professionals were in attendance.

  After lunch Todd Beals
with Priority Waste Services gave
a short synopsis of their waste
hauling business and convenience
drop-off center, located in Soddy
Daisy just off I-27, at 470 Rock
Quarry Road.

  Currently PWS is hauling
approximately 300 tons of C&D and
municipal waste to the McMinn
County Landfill. They provide
a recycling service for the community. They also separate any wood, metal,
cardboard and rock/dirt out of roll-off dumpsters unloading at their facility.

For 2019, they averaged roughly 624 monthly tons of recyclables being
removed from going to the landfill, which equates to about 10 percent of all the
materials that come to PWS.

Priority Waste Services’ operation and sorting facility is the only one
like it in the state. After lunch, everyone toured the facility to view the
scale and magnitude of their operation. Priority Waste Services’ website is
prioritywasteservices.com.
