to Eddie Anderson. This award recognizes
Eddie Anderson’s many years of service to the
Tennessee Chapter.

Mark Miller gave the closing remarks and
announced the results of drawings, raffles and
prize giveaways ensuring that many participants
left on the final day with something memorable
(while contributing to a good cause.)

  Finally on Thursday evening, conference
attendees gathered at the renowned Tennessee
Aquarium for good food, cold drinks and hot
bluegrass music, followed by a self-guided “After
Hours/After Dark” tour of the aquarium. The
group toured the Aquarium’s “things that go
bump in the night,” from eels and multi-colored
frogs to gators and prehistoric-looking sturgeon.
A good time was had by all!

Charitable Spirits

Throughout the conference, the Public Works
professionals showed amazing generosity and
community spirit with the various opportunities
for charitable giving. Water for People hosted
a silent auction and 50/50 Split Give-A-Way,
raising around $842 to help provide safe
drinking water for people around the world. In
addition, money collected in the Yeti Cooler
raffle totaled $760 which was donated to the
Host Branch’s chosen charity, the Orange Grove
Center. The food drive at the registration table
raised $100 for the local food bank along with a
bag of canned food items.

Many Thanks to All

Many thanks to all our sponsors and vendors,
our Chattanooga and Lower East Branch hosts,
and the entire Conference Committee for all
their hard work. Also noteworthy for their
work in registration for the conference and the
Equipment Rodeo are Kim Strong and Bonnie
Mumpower Dodson, both with the City of
Chattanooga. We also send thanks to all the
volunteers who helped make this conference run
smoothly. Next year: Memphis!!
