for Decatur County
Decatur County’s Cat 420F Backhoe
Loader at work on a rural road
Since becoming Decatur County Highway Superintendent three years PRSRT STD
ago, Robert Montgomery has made it an ongoing priority to repair or US Postage
resurface all county roads. With over 600 miles of roads to maintain
in the county, it’s a challenging job. The Decatur County Highway PAID
Department’s new Cat® 420F backhoe loader is playing a big role in Pontiac, IL
accomplishing Montgomery’s goals. Permit No. 592
“We needed to replace an older machine,” he explains, “and chose
the 420F, with a full range of options – because of all we do with the
machine. It’s used every day for everything from storm debris cleanup
to digging ditches and cutting shoulders to loading gravel. The 4-in-1
bucket and hydraulic thumb are particularly useful to us.
“We rely on our local Cat dealer’s parts department and service
expertise to help us get what we need quickly and keep our machines
productive,” Montgomery adds.
