Middle Branch Meets in Nashville TCAPWA EVENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS
By Rocky Robinson
The Middle Branch held its final quarterly meeting of the
2019 year on Dec. 12 at Metro Nashville Public Works, with
approximately 20 members and guests in attendance. In his final
Middle Branch luncheon as Director, Cody Osborne called the
meeting to order with branch and national announcements.
The Middle Branch is happy to introduce our new Branch Director,
Regina Santana from the City of Lebanon. Santana will be taking
over as the first female Middle Branch Director for TCAPWA. We
are excited to welcome her onto the Board of Directors, and look
forward to her leadership as we venture into a new year.
Cody introduced Metro Nashville Public Works Horticulturist,
Jennifer Smith, who helps oversee the tree planting advisory board
for Metro Nashville Public Works Beautification. She is the subject
matter expert when it comes to the devastating Emerald Ash Borer
(EAB). Please see her article on the topic on page 10.
A topic that all Public Works professionals within the country
eventually will have to deal with, the EAB has now made its way to
Nashville and will be a common nuisance for Nashville residents
as they prepare save to ash trees from the highly destructive wood
boring EAB’s devastation. The beetle was introduced to the U.S.
through a shipment of ash tree lumber from China to Michigan.
We were very excited to host this meeting due to the topic of
the lunch and learn session. This is a topic that not a lot of people
talk about. The Middle Branch thanks Stringfellow for lunch and
everything they do in support of TCAPWA. We look forward to the
new year as we welcome Regina Santana as the new Middle Branch
Director.
