COLLIERVILLE By Jennifer Casey
Truckloads of Recycling Collected
The Collierville Environmental Commission sponsored
their annual fall e-cycling event, and achieved great success.
Participants brought materials that filled up two 26-foot trucks,
which is the equivalent of one full tractor trailer of material.
On October 17, 120 cars dropped off materials at the drive-
through event in the West Collierville Middle School parking
lot. Items were collected by Omega Recycling Solutions
(electronics recycler) and Habitat for Humanity (household
items).
Omega Recycling Solutions collected more than 6,631
pounds of electronics during the event. A family-owned
business, it was formed in 2010 from the family’s strong
personal convictions towards environmental sustainability.
Headquartered in the Southeastern United States, Omega
provides regional full-service IT recycling and IT asset
management services with national logistics coverage.
Habitat for Humanity ReStores is an independently-
owned reuse store operated by local Habitat for Humanity
organizations. They accept donations and sell home
improvement items to the public at a fraction of the retail price.
Proceeds are used to help build strength, stability, self-reliance,
and shelter in local communities and around the world.
The Collierville Environmental Commission traditionally
hosts one e-cycling event a year, but is looking to expand by
hosting twice yearly in 2021, in spring and fall.
