Plant (CWWTP) is located in the Germantown
and Salemtown neighborhoods of Nashville,
which are growing rapidly. The neighborhoods’
property value increased 79% or 30% more
than the rest of Davidson County 2002-2017.
This project presents a unique opportunity to
restore 10-24 acres of Nashville’s downtown
core to its natural ecological function. By
incorporating low impact development (LID)
design through green infrastructure (GI)
practices on 10-24 acres of the CWWTP, this
project can achieve the 80% runoff reduction
goal required of new development, described
in Stormwater Management Manual (SWMM)
Volume 5. If this goal is met, Nashville
Metro Water Services (MWS) will meet 80%
removal efficiency of Total Suspended Solids
(TSS) and enhance biological diversity in the
region, conserving sensitive species and their
