Fun Things To Do In Chattanooga
Chattanooga Conference: Halloween-
Costumed Scuba Divers, Colorful Fall
Foliage, and More!
Spooky-themed scuba divers, peak fall foliage and sightseeing
riverboat cruises await attendees of the annual TCAPWA/
SWANA Conference in Chattanooga Oct. 28-30.
And with the conference taking place at Chattanooga’s
Marriott Downtown Hotel, 1100 Carter Street (Two Carter
Plaza), many interesting attractions are within walking distance
or a short drive before or after our sessions.
Since our annual meeting is during the “lead-up” to
Halloween (and in fact Halloween falls on the day many of us
check out of the conference hotel), it’s a sure bet that we’ll see a
multitude of colorful happenings around downtown.
Scuba Divers in Halloween Costumes
Within the Tennessee Aquarium
For example, the Tennessee Aquarium plans to have
decorations for kids of all ages, including pumpkin lights and
costumed SCUBA divers in its big fish-filled tanks. Located
at 1 Broad Street, the freshwater public aquarium has been
operating since 1992. Its massive River Journey building is
equivalent to the height of a twelve-story building.
The aquarium plaza also houses the IMAX Theatre,
a stunning attraction on its own, and the city’s Visitor
Information Center, where you can create your own
Chattanooga Itinerary through its digital information kiosks or
by engaging its friendly staff. For more info: http://www.tnaqua.

Area Leaf-Peeping Adventures
Chattanooga’s foliage fall colors are at their height typically
in early November, right around the time our conference
takes place. For an urban hike with awe-inspiring views, you
can walk, run or bike the 13 miles of paved trails along the
Tennessee River from the Chickamauga Dam, downtown and
all the way to the foot of Lookout Mountain. These areas offer
beautiful fall scenes with an assortment of wildlife.
Colorful vistas also abound if you travel up to Point Park to
learn about Chattanooga’s deep Civil War history, The Battle
Above the Clouds, and to view the city laid out beneath your
feet. Point Park is part of the 3,000 acres of Lookout Mountain
Battlefield, with breathtaking panoramas, monuments
and cannon positions interpreting Civil War battles for
Chattanooga.
If you bring your own bike, you also can view impressive
vistas along the trails to Raccoon Mountain, featuring nearly
30 miles of intermediate to advanced trails, Enterprise South
Nature Park, home of the 2022 USA Cycling Paracycling Road
National Championships, or any of Chattanooga’s 50 trails.
Four Events Are Included In Our Conference Package:
On Monday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m., our Golf Open will begin
