Campbell County – Focused on Improvement

Ron Dilbeck has spent 34 years with the Campbell County Highway Department, including the past 11 as
Road Superintendent, bringing steady leadership and experience across three administrations. Under
his direction, the department continues to focus on one core mission: delivering safe, reliable roads and
bridges for the residents and visitors of Campbell County. Permit No. 592 Pontiac, IL PAID US Postage PRSRT STD

With a team of 29 employees, the department maintains an extensive network of 887 roads totaling
roughly 700 miles, along with 102 bridges. Their work goes beyond routine maintenance. They issue
driveway permits, collaborate with builders and trucking companies, and handle vegetation management
during the summer months to ensure clear, safe roadways.
One of the department’s most impactful recent projects was the 4.5-mile Davis Creek Road widening.
The project included paving, striping, and the addition of two new bridges. Completed in-house for
approximately $3 million, the project was made possible in part by the county’s own quarry and the
team’s hands-on capabilities. The upgraded road improved connectivity and quickly became a popular
      shortcut for the community.
To support projects like this, the department relies on a versatile fleet of Cat equipment that includes
backhoe loaders, excavators, rollers, a motor grader, a Weiler paver, and various attachments. They
have trusted Cat equipment for more than 20 years, citing statewide contract pricing, dependable
service and parts support, and strong relationships with the local dealer.

Always focused on improvement, the Campbell County Highway Department continues to invest in its
people, equipment, and infrastructure—keeping the county moving forward.
