2018 TCAPWA Awards

Ryan McReynolds has served TCAPWA for the past several years in various
roles from Branch Director, Vice-President, President Elect, and this year as
President. He has done an exemplary job as President. Under his leadership,
TCAPWA has again received the PACE Award from APWA. This makes the
10th time the Chapter has received this award. Also, the Tennessee Chapter has
gained in membership this year. He has been a leader and a vocal supporter of
the Public Works profession throughout the state. Public Works Day has grown
in Kingsport and across the state. McReynolds does his best to lead by example.

W. Larry Eddins Award
Kimberly Strong, City of Chattanooga

Kimberly M. Strong has been, and continues to be, an active leader in bringing
positive change to the City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works and
has been just as active in promoting positive change to the Tennessee Chapter of
APWA. The list of her accomplishments is great. Beginning with her outstanding
service to APWA, as a member of APWA Committees, including the Diversity
Committee, International Outreach Subcommittee, as well as serving as an
APWA Accreditation Evaluator. Kimberly has twice been published in the APWA
Reporter and led a session during PWX 2018. Strong volunteers for many local
organizations and has served the City of Chattanooga for 25 years.

Tennessee Chapter - Award of Merit
Jesse ‘Allen’ Wedman, City of Chattanooga

Allen Wedman brought back the title of State Champion in the 2017 TCAPWA
Equipment Rodeo, and was champion of the 2018 Chattanooga Public Works
Week Equipment Rodeo. In August 2018, Wedman represented the City of
Chattanooga’s Department of Public Works and TCAPWA in the National
Equipment Roadeo during PWX 2018. Wedman’s participation in the Equipment
Rodeos has continued to be great for the department’s morale. Due to his
commitment to the Emergency Management Team and the City Wide Services
Division, the division completes key roadways work. He brings 27 years of
experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, five with the City of Chattanooga.

Charles Walter Nichols Award
Bobby Allen, City of Chattanooga

Bobby Allen was selected by the City of Chattanooga Department of Public
Works in 2018 for the Leadership Award for his leadership in Solid Waste
Landfill Management and Streets Construction and Maintenance. He has
served in the Department of Public Works for seven years. In that time he has
exhibited leadership in the areas of street maintenance and roadway repair.
Allen brings more than 35 years of experience in road construction, paving,
and all aspects of site development. He has played a large role in training and
developing his team on the standards set forth by the Municipal Government
that ensure safe passage on our roadways. These standards are set in place to
ensure the longevity of investment dollars for our roadways and infrastructure.
