divisions.” Think of it almost as an
employee pipeline to his department.
A life-long native of Morristown,
Brown is a 15-year city employee and is
a licensed land surveyor who previously
had been with the city’s engineering
department. He’s also a reserve police
officer.
Currently, 64 employees in 15 divisions
work in areas such as administration,
building maintenance, fleet maintenance
and signage. But the area is far from
totally bucolic.
Brown said the area around the Public
Works facility has seen tremendous
development, partially due to the
construction of SR-66, a four-lane
highway connecting West Andrew
Johnson Highway to Interstate 81. This
growth consists of retail, restaurants,
medical offices and a community center,
with other businesses opening soon.
“We’re sitting right in the midst of
growth in this location, but we still have
room for expansion to serve our citizens.
And after all, that’s what we’re really
about, serving our citizens,” he said.
“They are some of my favorite reasons I
love living in Morristown. We have the
friendliest people around.”
