SEVIERVILLE By Doug Tarwater
Fortner Retires After 27 Years
Devin Koester, Vice-Mayor; Russell Treadway, City Administrator; Bryon Fortner; Sevierville Mayor Robert W. Fox; and Wayne Helton, Alderman.
At the end of 2023, Bryon Fortner, P.E.,
announced his retirement from service
as Public Works Director for the City of
Sevierville.
His retirement concluded a career with
the City of Sevierville spanning more
than 27 years. Fortner has served with
passion and integrity throughout his
service, and his legacy at the City will be
evident for years to come.
Fortner also has worked closely with
TCAPWA for many years, and said he
plans to stay active both with chapter
activities and with the Tennessee Public
Works Institute to help advance the
knowledge and skills of Public Works
professionals across the state.
The City held a reception in his honor
on January 25, and his last day was
February 2. After taking a quick vacation,
he began his transition to the private
sector, working with a local contractor
to mentor its younger generation of
engineers.
