With a population of just over 10,000, the Public Works Division in Brownsville, TN is responsible for
maintaining the city’s streets, sanitation, and more. Rain or shine, they are dedicated to taking care of
their city, and they recognize that they need the best equipment to do that.

Throughout the years, the city’s needs have grown, and the division has done its best to stay caught
up. As the City of Brownsville Public Works Division needed equipment with more capabilities, they
turned to their local Cat dealer in Jackson, TN. “Caterpillar had more options,” stated Jerry McClinton,
Director of the Public Works Division. “Their technology makes it easier to use for operators,
especially for operators who haven’t been in the seat a long time.”
Their fleet now consists of many different pieces of Cat equipment, including a Cat 306 Mini Excavator,
Cat 313 Excavator, and Cat D3 Dozer. McClinton is most excited about their Cat 314 Excavator
purchased last winter to help maintain the nearly ten miles of ditches throughout the city. “We’re
excited about using that because it’s big enough to reach down in our big ditches, yet you can still
drive it around.”
