CITY OF COLUMBIA By Donna Osmon
Christmas Wish Comes True - Plus!
Broly Roberts is an amazing 8-year-old boy who
lives in Mt. Pleasant and loves trash/sanitation
and recycle trucks. His biggest request for this past
Christmas was to receive a trash can.
His parents, Trevor and Danielle Roberts
contacted The City of Columbia Public Works
Department to make that request. After some back
and forth with Santa (and working hard with the
North Pole elves), Public Works ensured that Broly
received a Christmas trash can. He was very excited!
Broly visited the Public Works Department this
spring, receiving a facilities tour from Sanitation
Supervisor Josh Moore. Drivers Jamin Wilhoite and
Allen Smith let Broly work the controls of a recycle
truck and front loader.
The boy also shared HIS knowledge of the city’s
sanitation trucks. After receiving a gift bag from
the department, Broly informed everyone that his
goal is to get a new trash can EVERY YEAR for
Christmas!
Visits from our young residents are so important.
It gives us the opportunity to share what we do on
a daily basis but also serves as a reminder that we
have children looking up to us. We should always
be aware of our actions. This is the FUTURE of our
industry.
