TCAPWA/SWANA 2020 Virtual Conference
Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 3
Even though the TCAPWA/SWANA in-person conference was canceled, the Conference
Committee couldn’t let the opportunity to gather in some manner go by. So, we are
announcing the first ever TCAPWA/SWANA Virtual Conference. The dates of this FREE
time. University of Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Service will be hosting our
Conference but registration can be accessed through our website, tennessee.apwa.net. You
must register to receive the link to attend this free event.
December 1, day one of the event, will feature special guests,
Chapter Awards presentations, the Virtual Marketplace and more.
We are honored to have the 2020/21 APWA President, Mary Joyce
Ivers, CPFP, PWLF join us. Ivers will kick off the Conference and
share her message with attendees.
Our Keynote Speaker, Heath Eslinger, will speak on the topic of
Leading North of Difficulty. Eslinger is a former Division I Head
Coach who understands what it takes to cultivate an environment of
excellence. He is passionate about people and helping individuals and Ivers
organizations maximize their potential.
The Virtual Marketplace will also take place on day one. Sponsors will
have the opportunity to provide a prepared presentation that attendees
will view during the second half of the day. Check the website for more

Day two is reserved for Technical Sessions. When you register, you
will be required to chose which sessions (one early and one late) you
wish to attend so the breakout rooms are set up correctly. Eslinger

And, there’s more. As always there are door prizes and giveaways for our attendees. The
Grand Prize drawing, for a Great Smoky Mountains Family Christmas Vacation including
tickets to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge and a two-night stay at Wilderness at the Smokies
in Sevierville, will go to one lucky attendee on day two of the event.
There will also be a “First Responders Scavenger Hunt.” Questions will pop up
sporadically during the Conference. A correct answer will be rewarded with a prize
which will be sent to the winner.
Tennessee Chapter Gives Back Virtually
TCAPWA is sponsoring a VIRTUAL CHARITY DONATION DRIVE. Just because
everyone has been social distancing and staying home more than usual, doesn’t mean that we
can’t show our champion chapter spirit (that we’ve been known for in charitable causes). And
we can have a little competition to see which Branch has the most generous individuals.
We are asking TCAPWA members and friends to show their acts of kindness by donating
to charitable organizations or anyone that could use a little help during these trying times.
Your donations can be in the form of clothing, food or money.
Once you have made your donation, please submit your details along with the Branch you
are supporting to Kimberly Strong at kstrong@chattanooga.gov. There are prizes to win!
