TCAPWA EVENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS By William
Robinson
Middle Branch Demo at Red Caboose Park
The Middle Branch had the opportunity
to meet at the newly renovated park in
Bellevue known as the “Red Caboose
Park.” Through a public/ private partnership
of community members, businesses and
Metro Government, the new playground
will be more durable, providing a safe, fun
place for kids to play. The Park also was a
great place to hold Altec’s Heartland remote
controlled tree removal demo.
Middle Branch Director Cody Osborne
led off the meeting with local chapter and
national announcements, then turned
the agenda over to Altec Industries’
product managers, Max Schmitz and D.C.
Creekmore. Schmitz detailed some of the
highlights of the unique equipment.
The Altec Heartland product line consists
of an Effer knuckleboom crane, a 360-degree
continuous-rotation grapple saw (33-inch jaw
opening, 14-inch cutting depth, 3,300-pound
maximum lift capacity) and radio remote
controls. The Gierkink GMT 035 Grapple
Saw allows for a grapple to hold branches
while the enclosed saw cuts the branch at an
operator’s command.
