“Every piece of Cat® equipment allows us
to get the job done.”

Campbell County Highway Department’s mission is to provide the safest roads and bridges. For 27 years,
Ron Dilbeck has strived to meet this goal. In 2015, he was appointed Road Superintendent. Currently, the
Highway Department covers 700 miles of roads, has 28 employees, and also manages a Quarry.
After June’s detrimental rain, the Highway Department has had its share of adversity. The flood
created over 100 mudslides, washed away and damaged bridges, and created numerous impassable
roads. Dilbeck stated there were over 30 miles of roadways in Demory and Long Hollow alone in
need of repair. Since the flood, the Highway Department has rebuilt bridges, added shot rock to
ditches, and repaired roads. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Tennessee Emergency
Management Agency have been working with Campbell County to assess the damage.
Dilbeck stated they chose Cat due to the equipment being dependable. “We have been able to get
the equipment and parts we needed to fix the damage. Every piece of Cat equipment allows us to get
the job done. They have really been supportive in our time of need.” Their fleet for this daunting task
includes a Cat CB24, Cat CB34B, Cat 12M, Cat 316 with a Cat Hammer, Cat 299D, Cat 420E, Cat 305E2
and a Cat 980C.
