TCAPWA EVENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS By Ethan Skaggs

  West Branch Young Professionals
  Extend a Helping Hand

On April 27, West Branch Young
Professionals joined the staff and patrons of
      Hickory Hill Community Center (HHCC)
to kick off the Hickory Hill Community
      Garden.

West Branch YP, although serving the
community in their daily roles as public
      works professionals, wanted an opportunity
to go beyond “the job” and support
      the community’s outstanding citizens.
The garden is an amazing effort, by an
outstanding group of people, and the young
professionals were honored to help this
wonderful effort “grow and come to life.”
     The HHCC Gardening Program

The community center’s garden is not
just a few raised vegetable beds and herb
pallets at a community center. It is part of
a wholistic program which educates youth
in the fundamentals of gardening, provides
hands-on training in the practical skills
to produce a fruitful harvest, and uses the
bountiful harvest to develop culinary skills
      and prepare healthy eating alternatives.
