         Federal and State Funding:

         Understanding What Is Out There

How can public works and communities
make the most of today’s state and federal
         funding opportunities? The variety of
         funding mechanisms and how they
overlap and even correlate may make your
head spin, but it’s important to remember
         everyone’s main objective: maximizing the
         benefits of American infrastructure and
         its impacts.
There are a couple of overarching
themes in current funding programs. One Figure 1 - Federal Administration Priorities
theme is equity and justice. The Biden
Administration issued an Executive Order than $77 billion toward clean water to the traditional DWSRF, the IIJA also

Also consider that funding agencies rank
projects higher when outcomes touch on
multiple aspects of the above priorities.
         Packaging together different priorities in
your project can elevate your opportunity
         to obtain funding.

         prominent funding programs.

$1.2 trillion in funding for American
infrastructure over the next five years.
