TCAPWA EVENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS By Eric Sines

Lower East Branch Meets in Collegedale

The Lower East Branch of TCAPWA met on
Wednesday, February 27 at Collegedale City
Hall. Branch Director Eric Sines welcomed
members and guests to the first meeting of the
      year.

Stephanie Livingston, PLA, EI and Stefanie
Farrell, Client Service Manager, with LDA
Engineering presented a program on “Streets for
      People.”

Shifting from largely carriers of automobile
traffic to spaces for all users, streets and corridors
within the right-of-way have been evolving in
recent years to require more holistic designs
so that they can function to benefit a variety of
interests. By assessing existing infrastructure and
forming a plan for improvement, municipalities
can be proactive in creating these types of
      spaces within their existing infrastructure
and pedestrian networks. In this presentation,
Livingston and Farrell explored how streets and
public spaces can be designed to support people
by examining how street space is prioritized and
how ADA standards can be met and access can be
      provided to all.

The meal, sponsored by LDA, was catered by
Panera. LDA also provided two LDA mugs with
$25 Visa gift cards for door prizes.
